St. Julie Billart was born in 1751 in France, the sixth of seven children.

She was a devout and pious child, who memorized the Catechism. As an adult, she catechized children from her sick bed.

Julie was paralyzed due to nervous shock after someone shot her father.  She spent the next 22 years confined to bed, often praying for four or five hours per day.

She founded the Sisters of Notre Dame, and the number of convents grew to 15 within 12 years.  She is the patron saint against ills, and disease.
